James Byron Dean 1931 - 1955 was an American actor and a cultural icon of teenage disillusionment and social estrangement, exemplified by the title of his most celebrated film, Rebel Without a Cause 1955, in which he starred as troubled teenager Jim Stark. The overall shape of this writing instrument is inspired by the switchblade James Dean uses in the film Rebel Without a Cause. The cap in precious wood is also inspired by this same scene.
